Workshop

The meeting theme was ‘Life is Difficult,’ because much of  the world’s art is born from struggle and sorrow, and we all experience that in our lives. At this meeting we took photos in a 15 minute window to try and show ‘hope’ or ‘hopelessness’ and discussed them together.

Everyone is a photographer now, but there are ways of improving taking photographs.

Morris Gallagher took shared some principles which he has found helpful in creating visual stories. His presentation can be accessed here

Collaboration

We decided to work together on creating a joint photographic story on the theme ‘Life is Difficult.’

Members will take images on this theme over the next month and then together we will put them into a visual story. Send your images to Morris Gallagher. They will appear unlabelled on Morris’ website for members of the group to decide what images, in what order tell the best story.

I recommended Psalm 77 as an example of a literary work whose arc is from darkness to light. Many other artists show this transition, such as in the paintings of the troubled Frida Kahlo.

An example story, creating from my phot roll is here

A link to our story will appear here in the New Year.
